Mission
The overall mission of Alachua County's Teen Court is to give teens a second chance to turn their lives around after committing a certain crime. They are able to get the opportunity to face a jury of their peers, receive a fair and just sanctions for the crime they committed. The goal is for them to be listened to by people around their age and it gives them an opportunity to give back to the community, correct their wrongdoings, set goals for themselves and gain knowledge on how to make better decisions in the future so they don't make the same mistake again. Teen Court is a place where it can be a learning experience where teens can get a second chance without having to go through a traditional juvenile court.
The overall mission of the Alachua County Teen Court campaign is to promote awareness of the program and its importance to the community while also encouraging more people to get involved through volunteering.
