Teen Court Campaign Organizer
Tatyana White
Tatyana White recently obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism at the University of Florida. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication from UF. As apart of completing her master's, she is working on a capstone project. She wanted to complete it on something she is passionate about and that is teen court! Tatyana served as a teen court attorney for four years while in high school in Leon County and it helped her grow in many ways. She found a love for helping others and believes that restorative justice practices can go a long way for everyone in the community. When she moved to Gainesville for college and found out about the Alachua County Teen Court, she knew she wanted to create a campaign focusing on how restorative justice practices could lessen the issue of mass incarceration and restorative programs like teen court can be beneficial. Her main goal through this campaign is for people to gain more awareness of the opportunity teen court provides and encouraging more people to be involved in it through volunteering. Through this campaign website, she hopes that people can gain more knowledge and understanding about how restorative justice programs like Alachua County's Teen Court can lessen mass incarceration and benefit youth and also peak people's interest to volunteer with the program.
